We spent the first two weeks of August hiking around the headwaters of the Noatak River in Gates of the Arctic National Park, Western Brooks Range. After our first week, we resupplied from a cache, and then headed up into the limestone peaks around Lucky Six Creek, crossed several passes, eventually descending back into the main Noatak Valley near the mouth of Portage Creek. We got picked up at Pingo Lake. The distances were short, but the terrain was varied, we saw a lot more varied wildlife, and extra credit peaks were unlimited!

Pictures from the first week are here.
